The timing chain malfunctioned and blew out the electronic fuel pump which cause a catastrophic failure of the vehicle. It went in to low power mode came top a stop with a "drivetrain malfunction" warning. Once the car locked in park it was inoperable. I am being quoted by BMW repair $48,000 for a new engine and a new fuel system. This is a well known issue over many years with BMW. There have been class action suits in Europe on this issue.

The high pressure fuel pump went out causing rail pressure issues. I kept driving it, but it got progressively worse until my mechanic changed the HPFP, which I was not aware at the time had an extended warranty. BMW refuses to pay for the part because they did not do the installation.

Failure of High Pressure Fuel pump. My vehicle has low mileage, and BMW has had issues with High pressure fuel pump with same engine as my vehicle. I feel this defect is extended to more vehicles than was stated BMW.

With only 66,000 miles, this is my second BMW diesel that requires a replacement scr active tank at a cost in excess of $2,000 so the additive can be measured. The older version of the X5 received a warranty extension, but not the current model even though the problem persists. Shameful.

I had a failed high pressure fuel pump, which BMW admits is faulty, and they have an extended warranty for. I had to have it replaced, but since I had it changed out at an independent shop BMW refuses to reimburse me for it. Just looking to see if there are any options for avenues for reimbursement.

This 2014 BMW X5 has a diesel engine. The fuel pump has failed twice in nine months causing the vehicle to suddenly lose power and completely stop. The vehicle was stationary at a stop light both times. However, this can occur while in motion at any time. This diesel engine fuel pump failure impacts entire fuel system which requires a complete replacement (please see attachment for first repair. The car is currently at BMW service}. this problem will occur again because they keep using the same parts. I am sure with some investigating you will find that this is an unreported problem with BMW. The safety of my family is at stake and BMW is being completely evasive at this point.
