The contact owns a 2014 BMW X5. While driving at an unknown speed, an abnormal bang sound emitted from the vehicle. The contact pulled over and discovered that the sun roof exploded from within the vehicle. The contact and the driver sustained hearing loss that required medical attention. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the sun roof was replaced; however, the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage and VIN were unknown.
