This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
As I was driving from the gas station I took a left and as I accelerated, the engine started to vibrate. I I had never noticed this before that day. So proceed to take my time carefully back to work. I examined the undercarriage of my 99 Lesabre custom and that's where I noticed that the drivers side subframe bushings have all but fell out due to severe rust. Thankfully the passenger side is still firmly attached. Upon further research, this is a common problem with GM cars of this era and the dorman replacement parts are readily available. Had this component failed on both sides the engine and transmission would have fallen out and caused an accident or worse. I am still trying to figure out if this is a recall issue or just a bad choice of vehicle design by GM and their lack of concern for the publics well being. These subframe bushings should have been or should be a viable recall concern today. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Suspension is not working properly. Vehicle becomes unstable/ bouncing, and moving from side to side to the point where consumer is getting sick. Contacted dealer, and the dealer is not willing to do anything.
When driving suspension is rough. When appling pressure vehicle shakes. Dealership is aware of problem. Dealer refuses to replace the shocks. Air conditioner leak, dealer replaced compressor shaft seal. Pressure ocntrol solenoid replaced, consumer stated when shifting into reverse or drive, there is a shudder felt at times, dealer replaced the turbine shaft seal because it was worn and again the vehicle jumps when putting into gear as if gear is not engaging, dealer can not remedy this problem. Engine light has illuminated. Front rotors warped causing vibration. Turn signals inoperable, dealer found wire out of terminal.
When vehicle rides rides over a bump or a series of bumps not readily visible, the bounces are above normal and in a series of bumps directional control becomes serious.
When traveling over 60 mph the steering wheel moves too easily. The dealer/manufacturer acknowledges that there has been a change in the suspension starting with the 1996 models.
