Rendezvous CXL 3.4L

the car was purchased from a used car lot to a husband and wife buy for their daughter and 2 grandchildren. the engine was changed, same liter engine wrong vehicle. came from another vehicle that had an EGR valve, the Buick rendezvous does not have one equipped on this year, make and model. I know, I checked with the dealers which took 2 hours to research, me as a mechanic and an autistic male I keep everything original as much as possible but always the engine and transmission components so that these issues do not occur at all. I traded a 1993 geo Prizm with minimal repairs needed for a 1994 Chevy Cheyenne with a 350 small block V8 rebuilt and a moth later the transmission gave out/slipping. All I did was go to the salvage yard and bought a manual transmission and converted the automatic over to a manual for less than $700.00 dollars. The transmission (a 5 speed) was $150.00 dollars, the rest adds up to 700.00 and to be honest best choice I ever made, still runs to this day. The moral of this story is even if you do your research and inspect what you plan on buying, something is always bound to happen, its part of life.

Rendezvous SUV 3500

  • Automatic transmission
  • 118,993 miles

The car cuts back and almost stalls almost DAILY. I am with my 2 kids and wife moving at 60kph on a highway when it starts to lose power and does not want to accelerate. Its scary and stressful because cars behind us wants to move to speed, while we are losing speed! After about 10-15 seconds it runs normal.

Update from Apr 28, 2016: we changed the fuel filter, set of spark plugs, and added anti-freeze to the fuel BUT the issue of losing power while in a highway is still there.

Rendezvous CXL 3.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 156,000 miles

When I press the gas pedal more than 1/4 of the way down the engine loses power and backfires. It only does this under load and you can rev it like normal. I've had it looked at by a couple different people and on the computer it should run fine. I can't seem to find the problem to begin to fix it.

Update from Jul 21, 2015: Still no solution

Rendezvous

  • Automatic transmission
  • 126,000 miles

For about two months now I've been having issues where when I depress the gas pedal I lose power and the RPMs go sky high. If I release and depress the accelerator lightly then it will go, but if you go more than what feels like a 1/2 inch then it loses power again. I have to constantly release the accelerator and lightly depress it to get anywhere.
