Cracks in dashboard - 2nd dashboard with cracks again. Definite design/material flaw.

My vehicle dashboard has cracked, most recently at the passenger side airbag. Another crack started earlier directly above the vehicle gauge cluster. The most recent crack to the dash now causes the dash panel to consistently shake while the vehicle is in motion. I do not know for sure if the cracks occurred while the vehicle was stationary or while in motion. The concern now involves the proper operation of the passenger side airbag and what will occur with the damaged dash if the airbag must deploy. Will it properly deploy and if it must, will the damaged dash have an adverse effect on the vehicle driver and passengers? finally, the damaged dash is a distraction to the vehicle operator with constant vibration and is directly ahead in the vehicle operators field of vision.

My dashboard cracked in two places, by the passenger airbag and over the instrument cluster. As near as I can tell it occurred when my wife was driving on a highway. Highway 99 from athens, al to salem, al. We are afraid that, if anything occurs to cause the airbag to inflate it will send shards of plastic flying through the cab.

Dashboard cracked while sitting in driveway and now violently shakes and bounces while driving including right above airbag, see this is a very common problem with this truck, concerned on the affect this would have if in accident due to the sharp edges and continuing growing length of the crack, could easily send sharp shards if in accident and wife is already severly disabled. GM is aware but did not offer any help.

The vehicle dashboard is exhibiting multiple, continual cracking around the air bag cove plate and above the instrument panel. Cracking is occurring without regard to vehicle movement. The concern is if an accident occurs the cracked pieces of the dashboard will form shrapnel when air bag inflates and/or interfere with air bag proper operation.

Dashboard has cracked into multiple pieces around and behind the instrument cluster and near the airbag. Numerous calls with Chevy have failed to resolve the problem and Chevy refuses to guarantee, in writing, that the airbag will still discharge properly in an accident and remain seated properly and that the radio will not dislodge from the dash. This vehicle is well maintained and has approximately 51K miles on it. This is a huge safety concern and is a common issue with all vehicles with the same dash made from 2009-2013. Chevy has acknowledged this is an issue yet refuses to repair or replace unless they are forced to in a recall.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Avalanche. While driving 35 mph and attempting to engage the brakes, the vehicle did not slow down and the ABS failed. As a result, the contact's vehicle crashed into the rear end of another vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained unknown injuries, but did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician verified that the ABS failed and needed to be reset. The contact asked the manufacturer for a new ABS brake module under the warranty, but the manufacturer refused to replace the ABS brake module. The failure mileage was 24,500. The dashboard cracked for no reason in two places. One crack involves the passenger side airbag cover and the cover is coming off due to the crack. I told the dealership and they said they had seen this before but would not cover it. The crack is getting worse and the airbag cover is lifting up which will compromise the airbag deployment. There are many other complaints online of the same issue of cracking of the dashboard and all are saying the dealership will do nothing to fix this defect. This vehicle has already had to have the engine replaced twice due to defects, 3 times if you count the initial rebuilding of the engine.

The dashboard cracked at the corner of the passenger side airbag and spidered out into the air vent. I brought it to the local Chevy dealer, and basically told me to go away it wasn't under warranty. I bought an extended warranty I guess that doesn't cover anything. I know of hundreds of people with this same issue. This is about the safety of the consumers!!!

There a deep gash/crack in the dashboard on the passenger side that starts at the upper left corner of passenger airbag! very concerned after I googled this problem and can see that there are instances of this on GM vehicles 'all over the internet and the complaints date back to 2006. Also noting that most experience this problem about 24-48 months after new vehicle ownership, this is clearly a manufacturer problem and a safety problem! #1 if the airbag deploys either from necessity or randomly due to the structure of the dashboard being compromised, the dashboard could break apart into small sharp pieces that could be like "shrapnel" and cause severe injury or worse! #2 since the structure is compromised, what is the written documentation that there are no safety factors that need to be addressed if the airbag does randomly deploy while driving"! in this instance, it could also result in injury or death should a driver be startled at the unwarranted deployment of the airbag and swerve the vehicle or worse, my dealership, kuni of sacramento was only willing to repair if I paid a portion of the cost, and GM paid a portion. This is clearly a manufacturer problem; therefore, why should I pay any portion of the repair cost" I also noticed that most that paid for their repairs had recurrence of the same problem within 24 months or less!!!! #1 a consumer should not have to pay repairs for manufacturer problems and, #2 if the dealership and or GM is unwilling to provide this "at no cost to consumer service " and they state the vehicle is safe, then a written guarantee that this airbag will not deploy randomly while driving the vehicle, then a written statement must be provided to all of us as consumers of GM products by General Motors, Inc!
