After ranting about my headlights and taillights constantly needing to be changed (another complaint on this website), one day after work, a Friday no less, I get into my car to leave for home. I start the car, and I cannot shift out of park. After trying several times, I call my friend, who comes down, and apparently there is a little cap by the shifter above the "hold" button. He used a screw driver to pop it off, and while holding a screwdriver down the hole, with my foot on the brake, I could finally shift! I brought it to my mechanic, who told me that my brake lights were out... this was the third time I had them replaced. Apparently, if your brake lights are out, your car will not come out of park (I guess a nice safety feature). However, this is now the 4th time I need to replace my taillights, and now I need a new switch put in. It would be nice if the Aveo had a feature to let you know your brake lights are out...
