2007 Aveo 5, new purchase in April 2008. 1. highway driving is extremely scary, cannot drive at "posted speed limits in North America.roof howls & vibrates, we fear that roof will detach & blow off.tech: Unable to reproduce. 2. freezing outdoor temperatures, defroster fails, needs hand toweling, excessive moisture & frozen ice on all inside windows set on "defrost/ fresh air/ high fan/ medium high heat, even after 1 hour still very humid & wet. Difficult to see clearly while driving. Tech:no fault found 3.air bag warning light goes off & on when it wants, with people in both front seats. Tech: Unable to duplicate 4. front end groans harshly when driving over dips in road our speed bumps. Tech lubricated. 11 failed attempts on our part/in letters to GM CEO's about our safety concerns-no response, interest or reply back. Service refused viewing our video of our highway driving, tired of GM service "loop hole excuses" gammot runaround system & getting know results. Please help us, we bought this car for road trips around North America, we clearly would be risking our lives doing hwy posted speeds that are as high as 80 miles per hour in some states. We are done with this Aveo 5!

While driving the throttle is sometimes stuck in a lower gear causing me to move at a limited speed while on the road. There has always been a problem with the throttle such as erratic acceleration, but only recently it has become stuck.

My engine light started coming on, so I took it to my mechanic and they did a diagnostic test on my 2007 Chevy Aveo. They found that it had the same problem the Toyota had when recalled. It is the throttle position sensor accelerator position sensor. I was told that if it don't get fixed, either the gas pedal will stick or it could just stop and not go anywhere. I have only had the car almost 1 yr. And it only has 44,000 miles on it.

Spark plug cables rubbing on engine bolt which caused cable to arc and burn additional cable. Has first told the vibration of the engine caused cable to wear. Car misfired and spurted while in traffic, which caused serious traffic backup. Took directly to dealership, cables were ordered & replace at owners expense.

I bought my Aveo new. At only 6,000 miles the master cylinder failed and 5,000 miles later the brake booster failed and I crashed--the air bags did not deploy. GM would fixed the brake booster but not the damage to my car! at 13,000 miles the brake drums needed to be re-surfaced, the brake rotors needed to be cut, and I had to get new brake pads--again GM would not fix it and made me pay for it. At 16,000 miles the air bag sensor for the passenger failed. At 18,000 miles the gas gauge failed and the shifter got stuck in park, and the cruise control would work on and off. At 20,000 miles the all four tires needed to be replaced. Around this time, gas mileage dipped to about 19-21mpg, but GM couldn't figure out why. At 30,000 miles I had to get new rotors and brake pads--again I had to pay for it even though they are wearing out prematurely. At 35,000 miles the transmission started to shift hard so GM recommended I change the transmission fluid at a cost $450 because the fluid has a special additive that is shipped from Korea! at 44,000 miles the engine died--more like blew up. GM said that it is my fault for letting it run too hot, though I had no warning from any gauges, lights, ect... again I had to fix it even though I had the 100,000 mile warranty. At 48,000 miles the A/C needed to be overhauled--I had to pay for it. At 52,000 miles I hit a deer and again the air bags did not deploy. The insurance company junked it. Absolutely without a doubt in my mind the worst car I have ever owned. GM should be sued for this car. They do not honor the warranty at all. The service departments treated me with disrespect. A couple of dealers refused to even accept my car for repair. The car is very scary to drive and not safe at all. With all the money I spent fixing the car plus my car payment each month, I could have easily purchased a BMW instead. GM is absolutely the worst folks to deal with. Never again will I buy or support anything from GM.

2007 Chevrolet Aveo that makes strange noises customer states that the vehicle has been a problem from day one* the consumer stated within the first few months he discovered vehicle makes strange noises and does not have much power, the oil light illuminated and was informed by the dealer that the oil pan was making the noise because the vehicle was out of oil, because the pan was leaking. The oil pressure gauge was faulty and needed to be replaced. The consumer further stated the vehicle has been in and out of the repair shop and this is a brand new vehicle with less than 5,000 miles. The consumer is requesting an upgraded replacement vehicle due to the fact this vehicle is not reliable and the repair mechanic can not assess the problem of the current vehicle.
