Extreme wind noise !! So bad you can't even talk to the passengers or hear the radio !!

This is not only very annoying it is dangerous !! You can't even hear emergency vehicles siren over this noise!!

My vehicle is at the dealer now and they are consulting with GM on the problem .

They say that there is a problem in the fender or a-pillar and are ordering a part , of course it is back-ordered ! If this fixes my problem I will pass on the repair info .

When I first bought my Aveo I absolutely loved it. I noticed right away the noise when the wind is blowing. Now over time it has gotten horrible and really unbearable. It is so loud you can not talk if anyone is riding with you, nor can you listen to the radio. I have figured out though if you crack a window sometimes this helps, but not always. This week it has been just unbearable and I will be taking the car to the Chevy dealership to have it looked at. I really hope this problem can be fixed, as I spend alot of time in my car traveling at least 70 miles a day.

When driving into a strong headwind or crosswind a very loud (approximately 90 decibels) whistling/chatter noise comes from the area of the passenger's side A-post & door frame. In an extremely strong wind, this noise occurs on both driver's and passenger's sides. This noise drowns out radio, unable to have a conversation or transport anyone in vehicle when this occurs. Am having to use earplugs to prevent headaches, so this is a safety hazard since I am unable to hear anything outside ie: Emergency Vehicles, etc.

We have made a recording of this loud wind chatter and have it on a C.D. I will happily post it on this site to see if anyone else is having this problem. However, I only saw a download for photos.

Second trip to dealer for repair: this time I took it in when a strong cold front hit. I took Shop Foreman on a drive & he said "That's HORRIBLE!!!" He said that he had never heard a wind noise that bad. He was able to locate the source along the A-Post and passenger's front door.

Dealership's Service Department found a bulletin about this problem from GM. Dealership replaced weather stripping around door. This did NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.

As I was listening to this nerve racking noise on a trip into a southerly crosswind, I called the Dealership on my cell phone. The receptionist couldn't hear me over this loud wind chatter when I asked for the Service Manager. She finally understood me enough to transfer me to his voicemail. I left the Service Manager a voice mail message while the noise was occurring. He called me back and said "You have nerves of steel to tolerate that noise!". He also told me that he saved the voice mail for his boss to listen to.

Taking it back next week to give them 3rd repair attempt. Service Manager stated that they are going to have to get with GM's Technical team about this problem. Next attempt to repair will include taking measurements for GM to see if this is a design defect.

I did explain this to GM on their Customer Satisfaction Survey and as of yesterday, they have contacted me and the Service Manager about this problem. I told them in the survey they have had two repair attempts and were 50% to a Texas Lemon Law filing...that got their attention.

Warning to anyone looking at an 2008 Aveo: MAKE SURE YOU DRIVE IT ON A VERY WINDY DAY BEFORE YOU BUY IT!
