I have a 2011 Chevy Aveo LT. I purchased it used and have been using it to and from work. I changed the spark plugs. As soon as I purchased and it ran smooth, but as soon as I took it for a 5 hour trip, all hell broke loose. As soon as the engine warms up, it rattles/vibrates a lot, it stalls. It has trouble accelerating and the brake pedal gets hard. Sometimes all symptoms at once or different combinations. I connected the scanner and I get a P0402 code but that is vague. You would think with all of the technology now a days, we can pin point the problem. I read the manuals, posts and everything else I can think of but I can't a real solution. I think Chevrolet created a lemon with the Aveo. Not only do I drive it but my daughter does too. I hate to think that something bad can happen to her if I can't fix the issue. I'm a Chevy guy but this is ridiculous.

We got the car on 4/24/2012 and within days it was running hot and shaking violently and cutting off. We contacted Premier Chevrolet in Bessemer, AL and took it back to them to try to find out what was wrong. They replaced the thermostat and said it was fixed.

Well within days it started to run hot again and shake violently and cutting off and was still hot hours after cutting it off.We took it back again and was told they didn't find anything wrong. So he drove it home and again it started running hot, shaking violently and cutting off.I contacted them and talked to Daniel Slaten and told him there is definitely something wrong with this car and shaking like a earthquake and running hot and not wanting to run and I told him I wanted this car checked out from A-Z and it better be fixed. We carried it back and they found it was the Head Gasket Blown and needed to be fixed by boring out the engine and replacing the Head Gaskets.

We waited about 2-3 weeks to get it back and He drove it around 45-50 miles an hour and it started doing it again and now has water in the oil in the engine and can't be driven at all and they won't make it right or give us another car leaving us without a car at all and I am disabled and have to have my medical supplies bought from Sam's Club once a month and this leaves me in a lurch.

Ok so this prob started on the first hot day after we got the car. Took it in to the GM shop, told them and they drove it and they said that's normal for a 4 cly. Well I'll tell you when you go across streets w traffic you shouldn't have to turn off your A/C or GET t-boned... The engine just reveas and red lines basically... Topical 4 cly my tooshy.. Will never trust chev again.. And I was loyal

Aveo LT 4-1, 6L-Fi

Cars is used for going to work, workplace located about 5 miles, meaning that I drive barely 20 miles a day. Every time I stop for whatever reasons, lets say red light, lines along the lane, etc etc the car re-start moving painfully slow, about 20 miles per hour even when I push the accelerator pedal very hard. I am afraid an accident can occur.

Aveo 4 cyl

This is the second time bringing it in for the same problem. Car out of nowhere just looses power and stalls out, Which sucks when you are on the highway trying not to get rear ended because your car just gives up. At first I thought it had something to do with the a/c being on , so I brought it in. They cleaned carbon buildup off the throttle body. Still doing it except it does it even if the a/c isn't on. Also very unpredictable when it does happen. Stop and go, on the highway, doesn't matter, it's like the car just gives up like it is out of shape. Brought it in 2nd time. They said they could not get car to stall, but found someone with a similar problem and thought the solution would be to re-calibrate the computer. Car was good for about a day, Then started doing the same thing again. Now this will be the third time I Bring it in for the same thing. We will see what happens.

Aveo LS 1.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 8,000 miles

this started about a week after i bought it. When i'm driving and accelerate the rpms shoot up to around 5,000 and the car surges from stop lights here and there and it lags when i try to speed up when i'm merging onto a highway. i took it to my dealership which i cant mention because i filed a suit on GM for it. The dealership mechanics pretty much told me to ''get lost'' because their claiming there is no problem. My lawyer is telling me its probably their egos getting in the way of your service. And this is very frustrating. A long time ago when i was like 16 years old (i'm 21 now) i saw my dream car drive right past me while me and my folks were shopping for a new family SUV there (same place) , and it was a Chevy Aveo. The problems i have now with mine just kills me inside, i don't like to see my aveo suffer and not get fixed. My aveo has been inside the repair shop there already 12 times for the same problem. Yeah i'm already exercising my lemon law rights , about not too long ago the oil cap blew off spewing oil all over the engine and it heated up my head gaskets because the oil leaked/blew all out. Luckily there not blown yet. But i'm tired of getting the run around i just want my poor car fixed. The aveo other than the cheap plastic interior and the engine problems it is a decent car , only costs 17 to fill it up at 3.50 a gallon.
