I have a 2017 Chevy Bolt. The car is an all-electric vehicle that drives great, however, the usb ports work randomly and my apple car play works at random times. This problem does not effect the drivability of this vehicle. Still a good car. This problem is more of a nuisance if anything. So, I went to my local chevy service center in Cherry Hill New Jersey on 1/31/2020. I had to pay 149.00 dollars for them to look at my car. 4 hours later i received a call from the service representative stating the the radio had an electrical fault and the entire radio needed to be replaced. The service representative further stated that the cost for the new radio would be 1900.00 dollars. He asked me if he should order the new radio. I told him no. Most people would not readily have 1900.00 Dollars to spend on a radio.
I am 41 years old and have owned at least 15 cars. Some of them were new and some were old. I even worked 5 years at a rental car company where I drove many different vehicles from various manufactures. None of those radios went bad. None of them had electrical problems with their radios. I’m not suggesting that the chevy Bolt is a terrible vehicle, I just can't comprehend how this radio problem could be overlooked in such a wonderful car.
