It seems that the parts in the steering column of the Chevy Cavalier could start to cause you problems after you cross the 120,000 mile mark. I've had to have the ignition switch replace once already at a cost of about $200. I used a Chevy dealership, the reason being that I needed the car back that day and most of the private garages could not get it done in one day. Guess you have to pay for that convince if you need it in a hurry. I just had the Headlight switch replaced in the column, it started getting hard to turn on and off at times many months before it finally quit working. The parking lights would work but no headlights when it finally stopped working. It would still turn like normal. Also my turn signals stopped working maybe a year ago or longer. Had the Chevy place fix that too. So I thought. They said the flasher was shorted, so I paid the almost $100 to have this part replaced which I have changed myself a couple of time with no results. Well, the Chevy part did make the turnsignals work, but they work very inconsistent, blinking faster or slower or not at all . Will probably be going back to dealership on this one.
I probably would have tried to fix these items myself but of course they had to happen when I was over 150 miles from home with no tools or time to work on it.
