Turning on my AC/Heater can only turn it to either 1,2, or 4 if I have it on level 3 smells like something is on fire. Don't feel safe. Cleaned out the plug and looks like something is burning. Not very Happy at all.......

Colorado LT

  • Automatic transmission
  • 86,000 miles

I had a 2008 Colorado, with 86,000 miles. Had this truck for over two years. Having more than its fair share of problems that I had to throw money at it to fix, but not the last one. Speed 3 never did work on the fan blower. Then all out of the blue, I got in it one Thursday after a hard day of work and it was working. Cool, I thought. Got on interstate and away I go. About four minutes went by and it was not cooling, so I turned it off and rolled down the window. Caught something out of the corner of my eye, like an orange drip. Yep, on fire. I tried my best to save this little truck. Using a fire extinguisher and making a mess. The fan motor is now melted into the carpet on the passenger side. Glove box is gone, windshield cracked and smoked. Not a total loss, but not good at all.

This truck was paid for and did not have full coverage on it. Now I have a yard marker. I plan on pulling the motor and trans (witch had just been rebuilt by Mr. Transmission), and all the crap wiring (that I hear GM has the wiring harness done in Mexico). Putting and old school non computer motor and trans. and then sell it (after I fix the dash and windshield).

This is my last GM product with the electronics. I found out that this was a problem and a recall on the '07 and older. I guess mine is an '08 that was made in '07. GM do a lot of cover ups with what should JUST be a recall (the last big one would be the ignition key switch).

I have had nothing but Chevy's while growing up. about a month later, I bought a KIA. If KIA made a truck I would be the 1st in line to buy one.

For those out there that have one of these little trucks, sell it FAST. If you chose to keep it, go buy you self a "check engine light code reader", a good one, you WILL need it. Oh, one last thing.....keep the full coverage on you truck.

Colorado LS 5 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 1,000 miles

In 2008 after a few months of receiving my truck, the electrical system went out on me. When I took it to the dealer, they said, "they were unavailable and they had to find one somewhere." After a two weeks, almost three, I received my truck back and when I picked it up, I was told from the service agent , "if it happens again, it won't be covered." I told them, "as long as there is a warranty on this thing, it will be covered." I got into my truck and drove off until the next issue.
