when 4x4 is engaged, a popping grinding noise in front
after 18,000 miles on this 2015 colorado Z71 extended cab, I engaged the 4x4 for some traction in the snow.
started to drive, and noticed a popping grinding noise coming from the front of the vehicle. I took the truck to the
dealer, who test drove the vehicle, and heard the same noise. determined it was the drive shaft that engages
the front differential. The drive shaft was replaced for free under warranty. The noise went away.
My question is, why did this drive shaft fail so early?only 18,000 miles 14 months old.
