I have been trying to get this problem fixed for some time now... Every time I call I get someone that says that the car has no recall or now they are saying they have done finished the recall in 2018 and my mileage is too high. I didn't have the problem at the time of the recall or my mileage was already to high. Now it is causing me to have timing chain problems and now all has to be fixed.

I use 3 quarts oil every 3 weeks. I am changing my oil & filter every 3 months and it is as black as can be and the timing chain is throwing pieces of metal in my oil pan. I NEED THIS FIXED ASAP.

I have a 2011 Chevrolet equinox and it’s the worst thing I’ve ever had !!!!!!! People, never buy an equinox !!!! I hate this truck, it’s nothing but problems!! The oil finishes every month and a half !!!! $70 dlls for an oil change trying to get the best oils for what for nothing oils don’t last !!!!

I went to family Chevrolet asked if there had been a recall and the said noooo...and hello there is .

They want me to pay $150 so that they can check the problem. Then plus I have to pay for whatever they do to it.

It’s a pain in the ass !!!!!

I bought the care albeit used but there has never been a recall or a fix to my car that has stalled and rattled when the oil gets low. I am tired of changing oil every 2000 miles or less. Sometimes it will rattle and slosh to a stop when it does this. Most of us don't have the $3500 or so to fix the problem at the drop of a hat. I want Chevy to fix it. NOW! It is ridiculous. Is this why they want to "buy back" my car all the time and offer me an new(er) car? I can't afford the fix that.

Chevy, I am so disappointed in you... own up fix the problem. We the consumers have the right to a safe vehicle and you covering it up doesn't allow for that. Make it right! Honesty goes along way... fix the problem. Testing and oil changes have been done. Fix the damn problem!

Anyone else have these issues? How can I get it fixed?

2011 Chevy Equinox, love the car but the oil consumption is out of control. Engine light came on, took to dealer we purchased from, they changed the catalytic converter since that was one of the codes. Now we are doing an oil consumption test every 1,000 miles for the next few months (had to pay for oil change) and have been encouraged to contact GM to get a service number for the dealer/service group so hoping they will fix timing chain issue AND oil consumption issues...more to come.

I BOUGHT A LEMON!

Just bought in June 2017. w/ 70+ thousand miles. Had a few months, not even 1000 out on and was almost completely out of oil. Dealership topped it off and had me come back every 300 miles. Found it was consuming oil, totally replaced pistons. STILL USING OIL!!!!!!

A continuation of the issue with this vehicle.

Not much else to say on this one other than the journey is not over, more issues to report.

I would really expect more effort from Chevrolet to help lesson the financial impact.

I have always been a Chevy/ GM girl... Owning a 2011 Equinox I have decided never again! I love the way it drives and handles, just not the mechanics of it.

I bought this car not even a year ago. Since then, at 200 miles on the first oil change, the oil was black. In December I smelled fuel in the oil and took it in for an oil change. I had this SUV in 3 times with complaint of fuel in the oil. March I moved the car into the street, started it back up to move it again & heard knocking (rods?). No idiot lights came on. I checked the dipstick to find not a drop of oil. I filled it with a quart. Checked it again, had to add 2 more quarts. I took it to the dealership 12 days in the shop. I was told they had to start an oil consumption test. Fine.

As of today it is back at the dealership. I'm getting 29-30 miles on 1/8th of gas! Gas, antifreeze & exhaust fumes are coming in the heating vents. $100.00 a week in fuel is unreal. I'm ready to spring for yellow spray paint. Still trying to figure out who, what and why at the dealership put a huge scratch in the inside rear passenger window with a key (?) & what they dropped on the front driver quarter panel to take the paint right down to the metal. More crap to pay for to have repaired.

I get the feeling that the Dealerships Service Departments know what is wrong with these SUV's. I was told they have to go by Chevy's spec's. There is so much going wrong with this SUV. I still have $1300.00 in repairs that aren't covered under the warranty, not to mention the lift hatch I haven't been able to open since late Dec. In Jan. I had to pay $250.00 for a new wiper motor that died while I was driving in white out conditions. Yeah, that was safe! 2 days in the shop. I hate being in the break down miles. This should still be in the break in miles. I'm on the hook for a $23,000.00 piece of junk. I am questioning why the engines are made in China of all places with USA lesser grade of steel?? And using a quart of oil every1000 miles is acceptable?

I also had to have the air conditioning unit looked at last Summer. It was out of Freon. I was told the question is why was it empty? The mechanic didn't have an answer. Driver seat the bolt moves, I was told no recall on it. The seat belt locks up on me when I'm driving. The car wanted to stall when making turns when I first bought it. I do not rag on this vehicle. I also purchased 4 brand new tires at the tune of $600.00 in July. The hum on the back tires went away when I got new tires but it's back again. Rear seat passengers having a window rolled down is deafening. Transmission is using fluid, it needs a flush. I feel like I'm throwing away good money after bad with this Equinox, it's a money pit.
