THis will be the third time rotors have been worked on. I had them replaced a year ago and now Goodyear is telling me the caliper is sticking and it will cost close to $1200 to replace the brakes, rotor, calipers and pads. There has always been a sqeek in my brakes and it has always been blown off by mechanics as "dust." The brakes in these cars are a bad design. Too many complaints. Too many repairs. GM really should step up and do something about it.
Took back to the dealer vibrating so bad, the dealer told me rear drums, brake pads, front rotors and new tires again, mind you this is the 3rd set of tires along with alignment again!! Had all this work done and the vibrating is back, only 3 months now. I just found out the rotors are warped again! Will take back to have them turned, my tires are worn so bad. This is so unsafe to keep driving like this.
Again the car is violently shaking when braking, took back to dealer, also informed the dealership the car is making a clunking noise when braking. They informed me I needed a new steering column. Replaced the steering column, only to have the vibration start again appox. 6 months later. Took back to the dealer, they told me the rotors were warped yet again!!! Machined the rotors only to have the vibration start again appox 4 months later.
I just bought the car in Oct, with claims from them the brakes & rotors were brand new. My mechanic noticed an imperfection w/one of my front rotors, the dealership claimed it was only a pebble stuck in there. Here we are 10K miles later, & my car needs news rotors as they are warped, & possibly new brakes also. Upon Googling this, I found tons of other reports about the same issue. That these cars consistently need new brakes & rotors. I am quite sure Chevrolet knows about this problem by now, so why have they not offered to fix whatever is causing this condition? My car is still under the 100K or 4 year Chevy warranty, but that only covers drive-train problems, not a continuous brake & rotor problem.

At 25,000 mile I had to replace my brakes. Which I thought was odd because brakes should last at least 50000 or more. Now I have put about 7000 on my a brake done at Chevrolet I am told the rotors are bad. Was told by Chevrolet tech that all HHR have cheap and brakes. That they have to replace them all the time. I think I have had it with Chevrolet I,m going to sell my car and never buy Chevrolet again. I have always owned Chevrolet but never again. I think Ford or foreign cars have just gain a customer. Chevrolet's are cheap junk and I plan let everybody know feeling about owning a Chevrolet. Ever since I bought this car it has been a bad experience. Chevrolet have the worst cars on the market. No wonder so many people are buying foreign cars. I maybe next.
Went to the dealer and the service manager said it was typical driving through mountains and going down hill the new brake system has no air cooling therefore they easily overheat and cause the front end to vibrate. He said to stay off the brakes. I take pride in driving through the mountains and "rarely" hit the brakes except when I get behind primarily a TX RV'r going to Branson MO and impeding traffic by going from 10 to 35 MPH in an otherwise 55 MPH highway. Not road-rage and without tailgating, however I'll flash my headlights when I know there's a place to pull off and let dozens of vehicles pass; however arrogance or self-righteousness prevail and they refuse to pull over.
