The security system keeps turning my car off. We have used the passlock override method and it still shuts down. We didn't know this was what issue was so we replaced the fuel system and it of course did not help. I was told a new chip would not help the problem. There is a recall for the ignition switch, but I don't know if this will correct the security system. I have checked online for Youtube videos to correct it but they are over my head and I don't understand what they are talking about with the wiring and then reprogramming or teaching the car the new system. If there are so many of the same issues with the same car I don't understand why there isn't a recall for this issue.

While driving down the road the car shuts down as if you turned your key to the off position, you then have to turn key off and back on for it to restart the car. There is no warning just all of a sudden you loose power, no power steering, brakes, lights etc. Going 60 on highway this is messed up, and if your turning a corner and all of sudden you have no power steering it really sucks, it takes everything you have to not run into another car or the curb, wall, etc. and then not done yet coming down a steep hill and oh, you have no power, so you slam your foot onto the brake that usually stops pretty easy just to have to push the pedal all the way to the floor to stop before you go out into oncoming traffic.

GM sends a recall letter and I took my car down to the dealership for their so called recall and they gave me some b.s story about the key and put a little king ring on it and an insert on the key, told me that would take an hour or more so I walked to a restaurant with my kids and hung out for an hour when in all reality it took what five freakin' minutes. I was so annoyed, I questioned the mechanic on how exactly it was going to fix the problem explained my car shutting down to him and he informed me that the key fix would not fix the shutting down problem, then what the was the recall for then? Low and behold my car has now shut down on me three more times sense the recall.
