The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu maxx. While driving various speeds, an abnormal noise was heard from the steering wheel. The contact mentioned that the steering wheel vibrated and caused the vehicle to jerk. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Updated 06/23/17 the contact had been informed by an independent mechanic that the strut miunts wewre rusted and were part the reasonfor vibration in the steering column.
