The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The contact stated that while attempting to turn the key in the ignition, the engine exploded because of a defective fuel pump regulator. The contact stated that the failure was similar to recall 04V090000 (fuel system, gasoline: Delivery) but he never received a recall notice. Before the failure, he received a recall notice and repair for a failure regarding a possible engine fire so he took the vehicle into the dealership where the lower intake gasket kit and fuel pressure regulators with improved diaphrams were installed. However, the engine exploded after the repairs. The contact called the dealer and manufacturer but had not received any response at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 140,854.
