Inaccurate fuel gauge reading at 1/4 tank or less. Since June 2001 (3,000 mi.)have complained to Chevrolet about this problem. Items replaced include sender/pump assembly. Gauges, fuel level sensor, J3630 module. In May 2002 service manager informed me this was a "self inflicted" problem, that I kept throwing it in neutral, and they were done with it. Embarrassed, I did not follow up on any more complaints. As of this date, still have problem, vehicle has over 50,000 mi. Noticed that others have had this problem, too.

Contact stated all of the gauges on the dashboard suddenly stopped working and were inaccurate. The speedometer was stuck at 100 mph. The tachometer showed a readout of zero. The fuel gauge indicated the fuel tank was empty, although there was fuel in the tank.

Gas gauge does not work (reads empty at all times now). The vehicle was taken to the dealership where it was purchased to have the problem fixed while under warranty (under 35K mi). There's a reoccurence of the problem. In one ocassion a close call collission in a highway was barely avoided due to the innacurate gas gauge reading.

Fuel gauge is not calibrated properly and apparently canT be. The extended cab S-10 ls models have 19-gallon gas tanks standard. The gauge reads full when full but seems to gauge my fuel consumption faster than I am really using it. It was most concerning the first time the light came on. I thought at first I was getting about 13 miles per gallon when half of my driving is highway. When the gauge gets down to the 1/8 tank line the fuel light comes on. When I go to the station the tank will generally take only about 13 gallons meaning there is 6 remaining in the tank. It has been consistent since I bought it and over the almost 40,000 miles Ive driven it. I still donT trust it completely and use my trip meter to gauge its accuracy. Generally I just make it a practice to refuel when the light comes on. I know I have about 3/8 of a tank remaining when that occurs.
