My Silverado has the issue with bad valve lifter due to the AFM and bad oil consumption 2 qts every 3 months or sooner of use, told GM about the problem 2 months ago to see if they can cover it due to faulty engine. It started when it had under 25,000 miles on it. Burning oil and a pinging noise. The dealer said it was normal, nothing wrong with it.

Problem continued and kept telling them at service time to please check the oil and pinging noise. Read out from dealer said everything okay. Check engine light came along with traction control symbol came on. And had a misfire on cyl#4 . They told me bad lifter and possibly Cam shaft. They are doing a tear down 12/21/2020 to see if gm can possibly cover since I went over on warranty by 8k miles.

I TOLD THEM ABOUT THIS ISSUE IN THE PAST AND NOW THAT WARRANTY IS EXP. I AM REALLY UPSET ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND THIS 2016 ENGINE SHOULD ALSO BE INCLUDED IN CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. SAME ISSUE CONTINUES WITH THE NEWER SILVERADOS.

Update from May 10, 2021: Update my dealership after complaining to GM corporate and no action from corporate, finally after all the complaining and ranting, the dealership stepped up and took care of it free of charge, and fixed the problem.

I have always been a Chevy man but after this one I may rethink my choices. #8 cylinder has stopped firing due to carbon build up. I have had truck serviced regularly and no one ever mentioned that this truck requires a induction cleaning every 30,000 miles to keep valves from building up carbon on backside. Not once did any service associate mention this until after this happened this week. I am thinking about just having them button it up as is and trading it in on something different. Their recommendations Rebuild heads $4500.00 or new GM motor @ $8500.00 estimated.
