The emergency brake pedal will not stop the vehicle when the pedal is engaged. This has been happening since purchase of vehicle. A service dealer replaced both the rear rotors with emergency brake parts. The problem has been corrected.

The emergency brakes are wearing out and could cause vehicle to roll when on incline. Dealer notified, the consumer states that the emergency brake has been replaced twice and is worn out again. The dealer says that the consumer is driving with the emergency brake up but he is not.

Parking brake shoes worn out prematurely. Parking brake will not hold truck. Service manager at dealership and several auto parts store personnel agree that this is not uncommon and that there is a design defect. GM detroit says no special programs available.

Consumer states that the parking brake would go to the floor and would not keep the vehicle from moving, the mechanic informed the consumer that the vehicle had been driven with the parking brake on, causing the rotor and other parts to be ruined, the consumer denied driving with the parking brake on, stating that the parking brake light was never illuminated while driving.

Consumer states when stopping and activating the park brake, with about 20,000 miles on the vehicle, the vehicle would coast an inch or two and a click could be heard as the transmission positive lock engaged. With vehicle in neutral and the foot brake released, the park brake has no braking effect, also the parking brake foot lever goes all the way to the floor. Dealer claims this is the design of the parking brake and there is a self adjusting feature.

While at dealership for repair work mechanic determined that rear rotors were crumbling and needed to be replaced, drums and lining as well. The emergency brake was not working. The rear brakes were corroded and worn out. The rear brake pads and both rear rotors were replaced. The brake shoes on both sides were replaced. There was a squeaking noise in the front end when the vehicle goes over bumps. The driver door panel failed and was reinstalled, also the arm rest for the bucket seat pops off constantly, seat belts lock up after being replaced twice under recall, the steering joint was repaired, also when consumer steps on the gas, the truck does not move for a few seconds, the rear window was replaced, due to leaking, and the engine hesitates.

Brake pads on emergency brakes have burned up prematurely. Dealer has inspected vehicle, and the manufacturer has been notified. Consumer states that dealer told him that he must have ridden with the emergency brake on, however there are two warning devices to warn consumer's that the brake is on; a light and a bell.

New emergency brake system pads wore out due to emergency brake failure. Did have a warning light when brakes were on. Took vehicle to dealership. Informed by mechanic it was a wear item. Owner has pads. Dealer representative would not cooperate with consumer because he uses the truck for boating.

The bracket that holds the emergency brake shoes to the backing plate is not sufficient, the shoes constantly rub on the bottom of the brake drum which wears it out prematurely, consumer feels that the brake shoes are too small for his vehicle.
