GM 1999 Silverado anit lock brake unit would not shut off even when truck was shut off. I tried to disconnect battery and burned fingers. To correct the failure pulled the fuse, but brakes do not stop good I have to press real hard to stop. The problem with the ABS brake is that the pump motor is producing voltage spikes and the amplifier shorts and won't shut off drawing high current and anti lock brake failure and over heating of battery terminals causing burns when touched. This was so hot that the post came out of the battery. To correct the problem GM needs to change the amplifier to original failed 75 amp pump motor power amplifier with a double duty rated 104 amp (360 amp surge) device. Add a 600 watt high speed voltage suppressor to protect the ebcm and the new amplifier set from voltage spikes created by the pump motor and jump starts. I have not had this fixed on my truck because I have been waiting for a recall. When are you going to make them fix this. You have many listing of this failure on your site. Listed as brake lights on, ABS etc. Ebay now has people who fix these modules one has over 400 satisfied customers. I this this may effect million of trucks. Incident date I would have to check for actual date.

When applying brakes at any speed brake pedal goes down more than it should, it feels spongy, and braking distance is extended. Dealer has replaced front and rear rotors 3 times. Once due to rust, other times dealer did not know what else to do. Front and rear pads were replaced twice. Consumer states there is a noise in the steering, also seat belt was hanging up, the underhood lamp was inoperative, an horn acting erractically.

An electrical short within head light and tail light burned out installations, causing insufficient lighting. Consumer has contacted dealer. Consumer states the wiring for the tail lights and dash lights is too small when towing a trailer, the wiring is inadequate to handle extra lights, wire at headlight switch are charged from getting too hot, consumer feels the wiring needs to be heavier or on relays to support the trailer lights.

Automatic headlights on the Silverado do not give the driver the option of turning off the headlights. This is an impractical and inconvenient design which creates a problem at every military installation where drivers are required to turn off headlights when approaching entry gates at night. What was probably envisioned as a safety device is actually a safety hazard under certain conditions.
