front end collision air bags failed to deploy
Was driving approx 55mph on highway, looked in side mirror to change lanes and when I looked straight forward again the semi in front of me came to a sudden stop. Didn't even have time to brake, I hit the back of semi which had a solid metal plate on the back of it. The truck was totaled, front end completely smashed in. Collision was so hard that it pushed the engine back, bent the frame. Air bags failed to deploy, I blew out 2 disc in my neck, and 1 in my lower back, and a compression fracture in my mid back. Was taken to hospital in ambulance. Had to have 2 level fusion in my neck, and artificial disc replacement in my lower back. I am now disabled due to the injuries. When reported to GM (included pics of wrecked truck) they investigated and we were told that it did not fit the criteria for the air bags to deploy. I believe that this vehicle should be added to the air bag recall. Please anyone that has been involved in an accident driving this vehicle report to GM, NHTSA, and file complaint here.GM will not take responsibility unless they are forced to.
