Speedometer erratic display / failed. Registered a constant speed even when parked and registered max speed when driving slowly. Speed indicator was not accurate.

Researched problem and found a speedometer shop online that repaired it. For $290, they replaced each motor in the indicator assembly, because it would have eventually happened to the other cheaply built indicator motors as well, and they provided a lifetime warranty.

Had to remove the cluster myself but they provided shipping both ways and even sent a mailing label and box. Local speedometer shop wanted $20 more plus other costs. Been working great since then.

Haven't had it fixed yet..GM had the cluster on recall but you had to have it done before 70000 miles or 115000 klms or before 2012 .. I purchased the truck in 2012 used, it was already passed the mileage for the recall . Now GM wants over 500 $ to rebuild or replace the cluster . The part IS DEFECTIVE !! So why is there a limitation on the recall ?
