Steel brake, fuel and transmission lines are extremely rusty and failure appears to be imminent, especially on brake lines. This should be a safety recall.

I was driving home from errand running and found the brake pedal going almost to the floor. Found a puddle of brake fluid under the truck near the back of the cab and bed of truck. Called my service person and he said it was probably a ruptured brake line, and from the description of where the puddle was it was probably above the gas tank where the line is secured to the frame. He also stated that he has repaired multiple Chevy trucks with the same problem. I have seen the underside of my truck and all the lines are rusted, including fuel and transmission cooling lines.

Applied brakes at a stop sign and the brake pedal went to the floor. Total loss of stopping ability. After using the parking brake to stop. Looked under the truck to see brake fluid dripping from the frame of the truck. All brake lines and the transmission cooler lines corroded and 2 burst. All need to be replaced. Clearly the Silverado has an issue with this and the entire undercarriage rusting beyond comparable year & mileage trucks. I have never had a vehicle under carriage in this condition regardless of age and this truck hasn't achieved 10 years off the lot yet.

Bought the truck in October of 2009, took to dealership on 12/17/2009 with complaints mileage of 96,764 of low engine power, hard to start truck, ,,,glow plugs were bad corroded park neutral switch, corrosion on brake lines..paid $ 3,600 in repairs then around late September 9-28-2010truck died a fourway intersection...was almost hit by a car...towed to nearest service fleet source...found out injectors were was started for repairs...then I found out the glow plugs...which I paid for already...and the injectors were service bulletins...called fleet told them to stop repairs...called the dealership...that had the truck in December...ask why they charged me for the glow plugs and why the did not fix the injectors...when it was in there.....dealership hung up on me...called 1-800-790-5700..spoke with GM told them about my Chevy problems...they claim that my injectors would not be it was not a dealership....funny thing is that fleet source is a certified rebuilder for Bosch, and satadyne by the manufacture for these parts that are used in all GM if you take your truck to a dealer...they get their parts from these people.....GM has a history of putting on bulletins for items...and claiming when you bring in your truck that the part does not meet the perimeter for replacement....I about another $ $3,200 that makes about $ $5,0000 dollars of items that people have complained out...had recalls..service bulletins....never will by anything that GM make again.

  • 21,000 miles
My vehicle is a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado K2500 ext lwb 4WD with approximately 21,000 miles. I have used the four wheel drive feature off and on as needed to negotiate slick road conditions without any problems prior to this incident, which occurred on 12/23/08: While driving in four wheel drive, high range, at approximately 20 mph on an ice covered road the front wheels locked up without warning, causing me to lose control and skid off the road. Had I been going faster, or if I had been in a traffic situation, there could have been a serious accident, possibly resulting in injuries or death. This front wheel lock up condition is still present as long as the four wheel drive selector is in either high or low range. In two wheel drive the problem is not evident. I have made an appointment with the selling dealer to diagnose the problem, but as yet I do not know the root cause of this malfunction. Although this incident was a near miss, I am reporting it because of the serious nature and the hope that a safety recall may be issued so that other accidents may be avoided.
