I feel this is a design flaw, and Chevrolet should cover towing, rental, and the fix. I know of two others, an 04 Taho, and a 2005 HD. Silverado that have the same problem.
Chevrolet knew there was a problem because they had put a stainless steel shim between the pump and another section of the transfer case so the pump would not rub on the case.
