2013 Original transfer case failed at 165,000 miles. It developed a crack. I didn't think muck of it. According to the forums around 150,000 miles they usually develop issues and need to be replaced. I took the vehicle to the dealership and had them repair and replace the housing on the transfer case since it was cracked and the bearing for the axle shaft wallowed out.

Shortly after the vehicle had the transfer case, bearings, axle bearings, trans filter and fluid replaced and also added in a bar that eliminates any torque or twisting on the transmission and transfer case. The truck was only driven 15,000 miles in 3 1/2 years since I had a company vehicle at the time then it sat again due to the dreaded rear brake line failing. I fixed that issue and added another 5,000 miles on the truck.

One day I had to get somewhere in a hurry and after I got home I seen trans fluid dripping. Took it back to the dealership where they told me Transfer Case is cracked and the end bearing has wallowed out the case AGAIN !!!! I told the dealership that in 20,000 miles this failed !!!!!! and they told me they would try to work with me to get it resolved. Then called me and told me that it is out of warranty 3 years 36,000 miles ... I was at 3 1/2 years and 20,000 miles.

I called GM and they said they are not going to help me. I argued with GM and they kept saying its been 6 months over the warranty they do NOT have to help me since it was out of warranty. I argued that it was a failure in the dealership and service technician to properly diagnose the cause of the first time it happened and they argued that the technician only replaced what he seen immediately wrong. I told him obviously there was more then that wrong.

All in all I am stuck having to have to pay for all this over again ... total of $7600 dollars? No thank you. The truck sits in my drive way now rotting. STAY AWAY FROM GM AND THERE DEALERSHIPS they don't care about you or me or anyone else but the mighty dollar ..
