This same issue happened on a 2001 4 door tracker we owned. My friend had a 4 door that the same thing happened and now my 2 door Tracker has the same issue. Leaking axle oil onto the brake lining and drum drivers side only. Emergency will not hold well. Dealer tried to fix on the 4 door and ended up replacing the axle. I suspect the bearing or the bore is out of tolerance. The shaft runs true and no indication of grooving other than a polish mark.
