I have already had to replace two other coil packs. Now I have to be careful where I go because my appointment to get it fixed is Wednesday. My extended warranty will only replace them as they go out. So now I have a low mileage vehicle that is not one that I can trust. I drive a large car so that I can take my grandkids on vacation with me, so this year I will not be going anywhere. I am being held hostage by the other three coil packs.
Dealership would not do anything until check engine light was on. This was a serious problem while driving on the road with severe hesitation problems. Almost stalling out on the road.. The so called solution was to replace coil pack which was getting wet. Never fixing the problem that was allowing the coil pack to get wet.
Same problem to the vehicle coil pack getting wet. Dealership replaced coil pack after check engine light came on only would not do anything to correct problem for several months until light came on. Same coil pack as the first time. Corrosion from water dripping down from under hood. Still does not correct the problem allowing water to drip onto coil packs.
The same conditions are present for the coil pack problem. No engine light on at present, Dealership will not do anything unless engine light is on. If GM or the Dealership would recognize the problem exists and my vehicle is not the only one having this problem and fix it properly. The problem could be corrected with replacing the coil packs and installing a shield to divert the water away from the coil packs on the firewall side of the engine. Or by sealing the electrical connections to the coil packs.
Engine bucks while in cruise at roughly 60 mph going up a slight hill. Had this happen a couple of years ago and the dealership finally tracked it down to a bad spark plug coil. It started happening again a couple of weeks ago and I took the dealership several times to finally determine there were two bad coils this time. Luckily we have the extended warranty and all we had to pay was $100.
Update from Jan 9, 2016: We have another coil or two that has been dropping out. Now we have 82,000 miles on the vehicle. I know there are other Traverse and Acadia owners having the same issue of poor coil quality. I wonder if anyone has looked into a class action lawsuit to have them correct this problem. They sure aren't getting the 100,000 miles that was advertised.
