I placed my car in park & an alert went off stating, -??shift to park.-?? My car would not turn off, after multiple attempts, until I turned it on & off & drove the car a short distance. This has happened several times this month, with no warning or symptoms. My car is currently in for service & the dealership mentioned there-??s a shortage in the switch, requiring a $400 repair. I feel my safety & that of others, is at risk, as my car currently does not know if it-??s in park or drive. What-??s to say this issue won-??t arise, when I-??m driving down the interstate at 70mph" Or I am having a medical emergency & can-??t turn my car off to place it in park" I did a google search & apparently this is a very common issue with this type of car. The dealer mentioned it would have been covered under a 3 year/36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty, but my car is 4 years old with 37,000 miles on it.

On multiple occasions the vehicle slowed to a stop but engine was still running. This happened once on the interstate at the speed limit. I got warning that power brakes and steering were not working. Other times the car shudders and stops. I then have to turn engine off and restart. I then take to dealer and they check with a computer and can find nothing wrong. I also had -€œshift to park-€. Message and was unable to turn off engine. $300ish to get this fixed. The dealer said common in that vehicle. I want to make clear that this shuddering and limp mode problems have happened at least five times. The date above is the most recent

Shift to park error. Happens often when the car is in park, the error states that the car is not in park and has an alarm that goes off. I am unsure if the car is safely in park and not sure my car will lock if I do not try to cancel out the message by continuously starting the car back up and shifting the gears to ensure it is in park. It happens very frequently. I was told by the dealership that they have replaced a lot of these parts and they are not sure why a recall has not been issued yet.

The contact's daughter owns a 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. The contact's daughter stated that when the gear shifter was shifted into park(P), the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that several attempts were needed before the computer recognized that the gear shifter was in park(P). The contact was then able to turn off the vehicle. Two unknown warning lights were illuminated. The failure was becoming more frequent; however, after the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, the failure could not be duplicated. The contact's daughter then took the vehicle to an unknown local dealer where she was made aware that there was currently no remedy available for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

When I turn off the vehicle, there is an audible dinging that does not stop and a message "shift to park" on the screen. This warning and message does not stop and therefore would run down the battery if left. I googled a solution before taking to the dealership and it turns out, this is a common failing in many Chevy vehicles. It is a small part located in the shift control, literally a 1 inch strip of flexible metal, that isn't making a good connection to a sensor. Chevy should fix this or replace for free since it is clearly a defect, but instead service departments charge a diagnostic fee ($169) and I was told it would be a $777 fix on top of the fee. With the "shop fees" it would cost $1,000.

Attempted to park vehicle in level parking lot. Vehicle appeared to go into Park. Driver Information Center indicated that vehicle was not in Park and provided warning bells. When exiting the vehicle was providing warning more warning sounds and would not stop. Vehicle was in Park, but would have run warnings until battery discharge. Tried cycling vehicle, contacted On-Star and began troubleshooting with them. I was unable to resolve with them and GM support. Took to dealership and after troubleshooting was resolved by following steps in TSB 19-NA-206 which was performed outside of any warranty coverage.

Transmission seems to be slipping causing the vehicle to jerk or stutter while accelerating. When accelerating the vehicle will stutter while trying to shift causing temporary loss of propulsion. While reversing and shifting into drive the vehicle may continue in reverse momentarily until the drive gear kicks in. The vehicle is going in for service next week. No lights, warnings or messages are on. There are tons of other complaints online about the same issue involving many different vehicles. The only real safety risk is when trying to merge onto a highway and temporarily losing acceleration.

Shifter doesn't recognize its in park once car is in park and turned off (some cars cannot turn off ) cars cannot be locked. The car continues to ding. The shift assembly has to be replaced. Looking at the internet this has been going on for years. My vehicle is a 2018 redline traverse with 11,000 miles. I had to layover $400 and I purchased an extended warranty!

My 2018 Chevy Traverse started to have a "shift to park" issue at 49,000 miles. I can not turn the car off because the vehicle states that it is not in park. I have to sometimes literally sit in the vehicle for 10-15 minutes waiting for the car to agree that its in park. Very dangerous. Dealer says it is not covered under warranty at I have to pay for it out of pocket.

Even though the car was shifted to "park" there was an "action needed" message saying shift the car to park. The lights and radio stayed on as well as the Warning bells indicating something needed attention. Even after repeatedly restarting the car and aggressively shaking the shift mechanism, I couldn't get the car to turn off. I wasn't able to lock the car doors. I went inside the grocery store and shopped. The car was still "on" when I returned. I was afraid I would run the battery down as everything was still on. I drove home (9-10 miles) and parked in the garage. After switching off the ignition (yellow light still on), I still got the action needed message and the radio, lights were still on. I went inside and returned 20 minutes later and the car was off. This is the fourth time I've had this problem.

Electrical ground problem affecting transmission control is evident by a Shift to Park warning that displays on the driver information center and prevents vehicle from being turned off. GM has this problem so we-€™ll documented that a TSB exists and is on file with NHTSA. The inability to turn off the vehicle when this is encountered is a significant safety issue. We paid out of pocket to have the fix recommended in the TSB applied to our vehicle.
