We bought a 2015 Chevrolet Trax, brand new. In late winter 2017, we started having problems with the engine losing power while driving under cold condition. The problem, at the time, did not appear serious as it did not occur all the time. We thought it was probably water in the gas or something. In January 2018, it was getting worse so web brought up the problem to the GM dealer where we bought the car. The dealer was unable to find the problem. Vehicle lost power while driving under cold weather condition. Vehicle only had 103,000 km then.
Problem kept getting worse in the winter but they could not fix it. In March 2020 we got a recall letter highlighting that exact problem. However now the vehicle has 181,577 km. We call them and advised them and they want us to pay $150.00 for the engine to be tested with the ODS or whatever it is called.
My problem is that we brought up the issue while the care was well under the 160,000 km. They did not know what the problem is and could not fix it. Why should we have to pay for the ODS? Second, the test will not show anything as it is not winter and the problem does not exist in warm weather.
I have sent them a letter and they do not reply. Is there anything you folks can help us out with?
Thanks and have a great day. I have documentation to show when and where I brought up the problem to the GM dealer.
