I signed a lease on a 2017 Chevy Trax in December. At no time did they tell me the car was manufactured in Korea nor did they tell me that parts for this car would not be available anywhere in the US.
The car has dangerous "blind" spots. The side rear view mirrors help without them the car is almost unsafe to drive. I scraped my passenger side mirror against the garage door side post and the mirror shattered like I had taken a baseball bat to it.
I took it to the body shop and they informed me that the part had to be completely replaced and there were no replacement units anywhere in the US or Korea. I have complained to the dealer who shrugged off my complaint saying the part was on back order with no expected date of availability.
I am now stuck in a lease with a car that is borderline unsafe to drive. I have been told that not stocking replacement parts is a standard operating procedure for Chevy. I am publishing my complaint to warn others who are looking at Chevy products to raise awareness that buyers may not be able to fix their vehicle if it is damaged.
