The van was used and the previous owner had problems with the wipers brakes and ABS and wipers.

The brake wiring was replaced twice but it does not say why... as it was under warranty I guess.

The vehicle was brought in for inspection for ABS problems by previous owner, but like most Chevy vans, it is hard to replicate as you must be actively driving for the light to come on.

The ABS was replaced in both front right and left within the last year. Today, it was snowing... and as I was driving (NOT braking) the ABS light came on and I heard a screech of tires and realized it was our van... the vehicle screeched to a dead halt in the middle of the road. Turned off ignition and the light went off, but now have to service, even though I know it was probably just snow building up on the ABS and made it fail.

The reason I know this... for some reason my ex bought a similar Chevy van previous to this and it has the exact same faults with ABS. No wonder the manufacturers keep putting out this crap. The same idiots will keep buying them.

These vehicles are not build for driving in inclement weather, so as the gentleman before me stated, the ABS craps out when you might need it most...

The person who complained before me did not say they were actually braking when the ABS suddenly came on, or if the light just kept coming on.... and would be curious if it was the same problem I just had.

If it needs more then a cleaning and needs a ton of repairs, I will let you know. This vehicle has cost me more in 4 months then my 25 year old truck cost me in maintenance AND repairs in it's lifetime. I just got it home from the shop 2 days ago... here I go again.

MY ANTI LOCK BREAKS COME ON AT ANY GIVEN TIME. I WILL BE DRIVING ALONG AND THEY WILL COME ON. IT WOULD GO OFF AT ANY RANDOM STOP. NOW THEY GO OFF AT EVERY STOP. BECAUSE OF THIS, I EITHER HAVE TO DRIVE VERY SLOW (OR I CAN NOT STOP AT ALL) OR I MISS MY TURN OFTEN. MORE COMPLAINTS TO COME.....

I purchased an AWD version of the Venture Van for the safety factor of having AWD on wet and snowy roads. It turns out that anytime the weather is bad one of the ABS sensors gets an invalid reading and the ABS system and AWD are disabled. This is a really poor design !!!

The technicians at my local dealership have pretty much swapped out every part of the ABS system and there is still no resolution.

1/14/2004 - ABS light goes on and AWD is Disabled. - Replaced Bearing and Hub Assy - Front Left had fault codes of C1225, C1232 both indicating LF Speed Sensor

1/21/04 - ABS light goes on and AWD is Disabled. - Replaced Electronic Control Unit - C1232 fault code in history.

4/29/04 - ABS light goes on and AWD is Disabled - Replaced Bearing and Hub Assy, Front Right C1222, C1226, C1223 fault codes in history.

1/24/05 - ABS light goes on and AWD is Disabled - Found Ice and snow between Axle and lower control arm as well as inside connector. Cleared Ice and snow, also blow dried connector. C1235 fault code for right rear wheel sensor in history.

1/26/05 - ABS light on again within 30 miles of being repaired, AWD is disabled. Found no fault codes stored, technician kept car over night and drove for an extended period. finally ABS light illuminated and C1235 Fault code (Rear Right Wheel Sensor) was stored in history.

1/27/05 - ABS light on again within 30 miles of being repaired, (waiting for Monday to return to dealership)

Every time the system fails it has snowed and there is water on the highway.

Conclusion(s) 1) If you need the safety of AWD on a snowy wet highway do not count on this vehicle to provide that safety!
