PT Cruiser Limited 2.4L

Seems the windshield just got a hair line crack from below the wiper blades, up about 7 inches, then to the left about 4 inches. No chips or damage anywhere, just seems to have cracked on its own.

Cracks/Cracks and more cracks. I have had three cracks that start from the window frame. The cracks appeared within the first month. Rock chips I can repair, but these happen too quickly and are not noticed until too late.

PT Cruiser Touring 2.4L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 20,505 miles

The crack basically showed up over night. It started on the bottom of the passenger side perpendicular underneath the wiper. Up about 6" and turned towards the driver side about 4" where the crack was at least straight. Over time, it creep d its way to just the half way point. At this time I replaced it out of pocket. Through insurance it was a $500.00 deductible. I ended up paying $330.00 taxes for the new windshield. There was no impact or anything to show the start of the crack as it was. The installers assumed it was from the frame itself off the car body that could have caused it as it started right where it was out of sight.

this Pt cruiser is a rental car. It's fairly new considering the mileage is only 25000 miles but my goodness , no wonder nobody wants to buy american cars anymore. I'm even thinking of buying american car because of good pricing offer? This just prove that this car is cheaper than Japanese brand car, because of definitely poor quality and reliability.THE INCIDENT RUINS OUR VACATION PLANS ALL TOGETHER.WE RENT IT FOR A WEEK AND THE WINDSHIELD CRACK ON THE SECOND DAY.WE RENTED FROM LAS VEGAS THEN GO TO MONTEREY, CALIFORNIA THAT SAME DAY.THE NEXT DAY WE NOTICE THE CRACK. SO ALL WE GOT TO DO IS VISIT THE MONTEREY BAY AREA AND VISIT OUR DAUGHTER IN SAN BRUNO, CA. GO BACK TO LAS VEGAS THE NEXT DAY. WE CANCEL OUR TRIP TO SEE SAN FRANCISCO AREA AND , GO TO YOSEMITE AND SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, BECAUSE THE POLICE GIVES US A WARNING TICKET ABOUT DRIVING WITH A BROKEN WINDSHIELD.... NOT THAT WE LIKE TO BUT WE DROVE 10 HOURS TO SEE OUR DAUGHTER . GOODNESS THE BEST WE DID IS TRY TO PASS THROUGH SEQUOIA PARK ALONG THE WAY. WE SHOULD GET REIMBURSE FOR OUR RENTAL AND GET PAID FOR RUINING OUR VACATION.... INSTEAD WE ARE GOING TO PAY FOR REPAIRS ON THIS DAMAGE WINDSHIELD? IF I DON'T GET PAID OR AT LEAST REIMBURSE FOR MY RENTAL MONEY, REST ASSURED I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW AND WILL SPEND AS MANY HOURS IN THE INTERNET E-MAILING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND CONVINCING PEOPLE NOT TO BUY THIS PRODUCT AS THERE ARE MORE PROBLEM WE NOTICE ASIDE FROM THIS OBVIOUS ONE.

we rented this car for a few days and on the last day a crack appeared in the windsheld. it just appeared out of nowhere. nothing hit the car and we didn't hit anything. it sprung up from the bottom edge of the glass under the driver's windshield wiper. I'm glad we don't own that car! Very upsetting and annoying and of course we'll be held responsible for it.
