CarComplaints.com Notes: Engine cradle rot is a serious problem in the 2004-05 Chrysler Pacifica. Chrysler admits they didn't apply enough coating to the vehicle's sub-frame during assembly, but only offered to cover a very small portion of the vehicles they messed up.

So what happens when your engine cradle rots? Well, the engine could fall out for starters. It could also cause problems with the suspension and other components but did I mention THE ENGINE CAN FALL OUT? The worst part is you might not know because there's no way to see the problem without getting under the car.

If you have a 2004-05 Pacifica, make sure to have your mechanic inspect your sub-frame for rust and corrosion.

Dash heater control panel--lamps for several functions have ceased working--blower fan, air conditioning, circulation/recirculation, front window defrost and rear window defrost making adjustments or changes at night impossible. There is no way to change bulbs according to the manufacturer service/shop manual. Additionally, the function status (led) panel fades out leaving no information for what function is working, or what the status is, thus making changes impossible at anytime. Inability to control environment--specifically the functions concerning visibility make the vehicle a hazard to drive when the controls are inoperative or impossible to use.

The contact owns a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact activated the defrost system; however, the front and rear windshield, side and rear windows were completely covered with ice. The defroster/defogger system failed to de-ice the accumulation on the windows. In addition, the defroster failed to clear off the fog and frost from the windows surface. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection. The technician stated that the defroster was functioning properly. The vehicle has not been repaired for the malfunction. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was 35,000. The current mileage was 77,000.

There has been no accident for me but I am sure if you search you can find this problem. The windshield wipers freezes up when the weather is very cold and wet. The defroster does nothing to help keep the wipers in good working order.

Windshield wipers freeze in light to heavy snow. Defroster pattern not low enough or wide enough. Windshield has ice form on it when the wipers clear the defrosted part of windshield. Ice then forms on wipers and fails to clear windshield. Car has to be stopped and manually cleared of ice and snow.
