CarComplaints.com Notes: What the heck happened here? A year after getting our "seal of pretty good" for the 2004, Chrysler turns around and delivers this crapwagon.

This minivan has problems ranging from rack and pinion steering failure to door locks that won't let you out. And trust me, you'll want to get out.

Town & Country

Our Town & Country van had less than 40,000 mi on it when it started making a very annoying, loud sound when making turns. When we took it in, and explained the noise and the mechanic asked if it was a Town & Country (he hadn't seen the van yet). When we said it was, he knew immediately that the bushings needed to be replaced. When I asked if it was normal for bushings to go with on a car with such low mileage, he replied "only on a Town & Country".

Town & Country 3.4L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 15,000 miles

I've had complete rack and pinion replacement the first year and new steering bushings about a year later. My daughter has a van a year newer and at 25,000 miles she has had to replace her control arm and steering bushings. A friend didn't have the warranty and the cost for the same reoccurring problem was $400 to repair.
