In 2011, the contact attempted to use the fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire in another vehicle, but it did not function. The fire was eventually extinguished by another vehicle owner with a different fire extinguisher. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 17V824000 (equipment); however, the kidde manufacturer refused to replace the fire extinguisher because the contact discarded the original equipment due to the failure. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. Parts distribution disconnect.
