The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that after parking the vehicle approximately 30 minutes later flames were discovered coming from under the engine compartment. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. A fire report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. Coming to a stop at traffic red light, engine died. Put trans in neutral, restarted vehicle. Drove about 2 miles, stopped at red light, engine died. Repeated start procedure as above. Drove about 1/2 mile stopped at red light, on green made left turn across intersection. Halfway across intersection engine stopped. Gas tank 1/2 full. Took vehicle to dealer who informed me they had never heard of this problem. Yet many complaints on internet forums re this issue. Also many reports of engine stall in NHTSA website. Dealer advised me they could not see any computer trouble codes and couldn't help. Never had any stalling issues until dealer serviced car several weeks before with new spark plugs, recalled cooling fan replace. Per factory recall. This car is no longer safe to drive! filed complaint with Dodge by phone, rep said they have never heard of this engine stall before!!!!

We have a 2006 Dodge Charger, always had all maintenance performed via dealership on scheduled time. Out of the blue, engine light starts to blink on/off, car hesitating. Dealership says the engine has completely failed, and we need a new one. Dealership states "something" in the exhaust system broke off and entered into the engine, causing it to ruin the engine, and we need a replacement engine. We have never had any issue with engine up to this point, and the car was taken into the dealership immediately when issues began. We still owe 4K on this car, and feel we have done everything within dealership/car requirements regarding having only the dealership work on this vehicle for every engine need. No warning, no prior issue(s), no reason for this to occur other than a failure with the manufacturing.

The engines' rocker arms & lifters are tapping & causing engine to stall & consume more gas all because the Chrysler-Dodge dealership have been replacing only 5qts of oil rather than the 6qts the manual instructs. Nothing has been done by the dealer to correct this maintenance issue.

I have taken my car to the dealership 5 times to have issues fixed. Each time I got the car back, it was worse. I had 13 issues originally with the car. I ended up suing, and got a very small settlement- Dodge refused to cooperate. I still have each and every problem, and do not know what else to do. My car dies while in reverse, the brakes malfunction constantly, the window panel remains broken due to their inept work, the radio cuts off, the dash lights die @ night, etc. I would truly appreciate it if someone could actually help me. I do not know what else to do. I love my car dearly, but something needs to be done. The date I put as date of incident is when this all started.

Purchased July 14, 2006. It ran great with no problems until July 26. I went to take a left out of my company's parking lot and the car sputtered and would accelerate fast. I had to pull off on the left side of the road to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. I put it in neutral and gave it some gas. I attempted to go again when the traffic was clear and it sputtered more until I gave it a lot of gas and then it drove fine. I though it was an isolated incident so I drove it home. That night my wife, son and I took the car to the mall. Upon leaving the mall it did it again and the engine light was on. The dealership was still open and close by so I drove it directly there. They gave me a loaner to drive while they attempted to fix it. On August 9, they gave the vehicle back to me. That night it did it again, except the vehicle actually died on me in the middle of traffic. The next day it was back to the dealer where is sat for 37 days while they tried to figure out what was wrong. They replaced all the oxygen sensors, the power control module, the wiring harnesses and I am sure there were some other things. They test drove it for 9 key cycles and 250 miles and were 98% confident they fixed it so I got the car back on September 15. The next day the same problem returned and I was 50 miles from home and this time the idling of the car was so rough that the car was visibly shaking. I had a friend follow me home and since it was a Saturday night, the dealership was not open and would not be until Monday. Monday morning I started the car up and let it idle 5 minutes before leaving. When I got in, it was idling rough again and the engine light was flashing. I shut it down, called a tow truck and it is back at the dealership where it will stay because I am not taking it back. I have requested vehicle replacement from Chrysler and the dealership. Now here I am 5 days later and there is still no answer as to when I will get a new vehicle.

I am about to file a lemon law complaint because Dodge has been "unable to duplicate" the most serious problems that have plagued my vehicle, a 2006 Dodge Charger R/T, since day four of my ownership. I have owned this car for 68 days and of those, I have only been able to drive the functioning car for 19 days. They have fixed a number of minor issues and notified me that they would be unable to fix or do not know how to fix at this time, some minor issues including the air conditioning compressor problems (which they say they have also been "unable to duplicate". the serious issues that are occurring when it idles, when it accelerates and with what seems to be the suspension and possibly both the engine and transmission. Of those 68 days, they have come to pick up my car on three different occasions to try and fix it, the last time (which continues currently) they have had my car for four weeks. I happen to know (upon researching after the prolonged period they have had the car) that tsb's or technical service bulletins have been issued for every problem that is occurring with my car. Additionally, I have taken my car to two different mechanics (one Dodge dealership and one independent mechanic) that have witnessed these malfunctions. I would like to know what my options are legally for getting some kind of resolution.
