The contact owns a 2016 Dodge Charger. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for an oil change and when the mechanic inspected the vehicle, he noticed that the universal driveshaft was corroded and needed to be replaced. The mechanic referred the contact to the manufacturer to see if the VIN was under recall. The contact notified the manufacturer of the issue and was informed that there was no recall on the vehicle. The manufacturer stated that the vehicle would be repaired under warranty. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer who replaced the driveshaft on the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 54,000. The VIN was not available.
