From 2004-2006 electrical overloading in the driver's side instrument panel caused numerous reports of interior fires. The interior infernos became so commonplace that Chrysler eventually issued a recall.
The problems didn't stop there, however. Owners of the recalled vehicles complained about being treated unfairly and given take-it-or-leave-it low ball settlement offers. "They offered me $2000 under NADA retail as a settlement," said one owner, "and have been rude and hostile to deal with." Nothing says awesome service like treating your customers rudely after their cars have caught on fire.

My gas peddle got stuck and when I hit the brake peddle it would not brake. I hit a car in front of and the brakes would not work. There's a recall on the throttle on the Durango's. I had taken my Durango to the shop and I told them that the Durango was sounding wierd that it felt like something was skipping. But they said nothing was wrong.
While driving the throttle stuck, and the brakes failed. This caused the consumer to go into a ditch. Vehicle was towed. Dealership repaired the problem three times, but it recurred. Dealer did not repair problem they installed code reader and said nothing was wrong. They called Chrysler and Chrysler said that there was no problem.
While braking any speed vehicle accelerated, causing it to hit a mail box. Consumer managed to pull over, and had the vehicle towed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.
ABS and traction control lights come on and stay on. I just turned on the car and the lights stayed on. I have had my 2004 Dodge Durango for 9 months and it has been in three times for the ABS problem. A total of 17 days and still counting. They changed the speed sensor, the wiring harness, and the ECM for ABS and now its back in the shop.
