CarComplaints.com Notes: The second generation Durango was introduced in 2004 and instantly came under fire for, well, catching on fire.

From 2004-2006 electrical overloading in the driver's side instrument panel caused numerous reports of interior fires. The interior infernos became so commonplace that Chrysler eventually issued a recall.

The problems didn't stop there, however. Owners of the recalled vehicles complained about being treated unfairly and given take-it-or-leave-it low ball settlement offers. "They offered me $2000 under NADA retail as a settlement," said one owner, "and have been rude and hostile to deal with." Nothing says awesome service like treating your customers rudely after their cars have already caught on fire.

I GOT THE 2005 DURANGO IN 07. IT WAS A VERY NICE LOOKING VEHICLE BUT 4 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE I STARTED TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE TRANS AND HAD IT BACK 3 TIMES AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG. I MADE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT 3WEEKS LATER AND WHEN IT WAS TIME TO TAKE IT IN TO THE CRYSLER COMPANY I WAS TAKING IT TO WAS GONE OUT OF BUSINESS. NO WAY TO FIND THEM... NOW I TOOK IT TO NEWARK DELAWARE DODGE CRYSLER FOR THE RECALL ON THE CLUSTERS AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED IT. I DON'T KNOW. AND I EVEN TOLD THEM WHAT I HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND SINCE THE WARRANTY HAS RUN OUT THEY WERE GOING TO CHARGE ME TO CHECK IT. SO, I FEEL LIKE I'M GOING TO GO THROUGH THE SAME WITH THIS AS THE FIRST. IS THERE ANYONE THAT HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH DODGE COMPANY THAT'S HONEST THAT COULD GIVE ME SOME INSIGHT ON WHAT TO DO. I AM DISABLED AND I CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY ANY MORE MONEY AND I NEED MY VEHICLE.

My truck has problem when I slow down and i'm doing between 10 and 30 miles per hour then I try to accelerate the transmission something in the drivetrain thumps and feels like someone just bumped be from behind.

I took the car to the dealer ship the quality contry person called me back and said they find no problem, I explained to the guy exactly what I feel and I would be glad to take him on a test drive, he said he would take the car out himself, he called me back and said that he did find the problem and sees how it is a problem. He said he will order some replacement parts to take care of this. I called him back once week for one month finally he said bring the car by the parts have arrived.

The car was at the dealership for four days. they were not able to fix or find the problem, the person said the engineer has concluded the truck is normal and there is nowhere on any of the truck parts due to my issue.
