While driving on the freeway with my son, the electrical system shut down causing the vehicle to lose all power. Without touching the keys or anything, the vehicle seemed to "reboot" and started operating normal again as I pulled over. This seems to be the exact problem outlined by the multiple recalls issued by fca on the alternator (recall 17V435000 and recall 14V634000) however, they refuse to service my alternator or even check the part number of the alternator to confirm if it is an affected part!!! I do not have another car and live in constant fear that this issue is putting myself and my children in danger every day!!!

Stopped at a light and vehicle started to smoke. No other indicators that anything was wrong. Opened hood and the alternator was smoking. Closed the hood pushed out of the way of traffic and walked away. Car caught fire and burned. Total loss. There is a recall on the alternator for my vehicle and Dodge is claiming no fault. While driving, the ignition switch may fail and think that the key has been removed. This results in a total loss of power and the engine cutting off. The result is very limited steering and braking capability. This happened more than 6 times and included 4 visits to the dealer before they could identify why it was shutting off randomly. This is a safety issue and should be recalled.

The contact owns a 2013 Dodge Durango. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled. The contact mentioned that it took several attempts to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an unknown local dealer where it was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 15V115000 (electrical system); however, the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the vehicle still stalled after the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 106,000.

The tipm has caused my vehicle to stall. My window wipers come on automatically and the fuel gauge has gone down to no fuel even when there is fuel in there. All the dash lights come on in the vehicle while in motion. Horn is honking as well as alarm all while driving. Hazards lights as well.

For months now, I have had to complain to my Dodge dealer where I purchased my 2013 Dodge Durango and get it serviced about how it suddenly stalls while driving. I have associated it with hitting a bump such as a pothole or going over railroad tracks and it will die out and I have to put it in park. It will then start right back up. It has happened on city streets as well as highways. No codes are showing up and battery and alternator check out fine. Cables all have a good connection and fuses are said to be good. I get told "have to wait until it gets worse" or "you'll have to leave it with us so we can drive it and wait for it to do it" but this is my only vehicle and it may do it numerous times one day and will never do it again over the next month. It's random. I have noticed there was an alternator recall on 2011-14 yr makes of the Durangos but my VIN shows mine is clear and the fuel pump relay recall has been fixed. Something is definitely not right.

I had an electrical fire in the headliner behind the passenger sun visor today 7/18/18. My vehicle was repaired prior in 2014 related to the recall concerning this wiring. Shortly after starting the vehicle and driving, smoke started rolling out from behind the headliner. I pulled into an auto shop and they located the source of the fire.

I've had a few recalls on the truck. Several listed wiring. They've all been 'corrected' or checked by a dealer. My truck caught fire and burned all the electrical under the hood today. Less than a month since the 'electrical' recall was supposedly repaired. It was stopped but running at a gas station after a short 3 minute drive.

While the car is in motion on a city street it will engage into low mode all by itself, causing the car to jerk and drive very slowly. The traction light also comes on. I am unable disengage the low mode. I have tried putting the vehicle in neutral to disengage however most of the time it doesn't work. The car will at some point usually after about 10-20 mins of trying to put the car in neutral and switching the auto AWD/low knob back and forth resume regular driving mode at some point. This has been happening every since I bought the car 2 years (7/2016) ago sporadically. The dealers have been unable to fix it because it doesn't throw any kind of error code and they are saying they have to see the car actually do it. This is a safety hazard because while driving the car engages in a low mode by itself causing the car to jerk and drive slower all of a sudden and could potentially cause an accident. The part of the system causing the issue is unknown.

In December 2017 said vehicle was towed to the shop for a no start condition. After bringing it in we determined a severe short in the electrical system, traced to alternator. We also found melted battery. Found this vehicle fell under the T36 recall from fca. We got approval at that time to repair the vehicle and received a case number for reimbursement. We had to call back multiple times to continue authorization, and was told as long as the problems were related to the alternator then they would be reimbursed from 30-60 days from the time of submission. After submitting needed paper work and documentation we waited. The customer stopped in in may and asked us to check on it since he had not heard anything yet. Called fca and found out that nothing had been done with the claim because of an internal error that sent the paper work to the wrong department. After calling again on 6/13/18 we found out that again, it had not been filed or sent to the right people. Today (6/13/18) I sent the information again and was promised it would be taken care of. It has now been 6 months from the date of the repair and no effort has been made to reimburse the customer for anything. Fca said it would be handled in 30-60 days. I feel that this is unreasonable. This customer has been very understanding but is running out of patience. We now have 3 different case numbers and I have documentation of talking to 4 different people to resolve the matter. The case numbers that have been assigned are as follows: 1) [xxx], # [xxx], 2) contact: [xxx], # [xxx], 3)[xxx], #[xxx]. I feel that as it is a recall and Chrysler did not have a solution for the problem at the time, and authorized us to repair, they have handled the situation very poorly. Please look into the matter or at least please let me know who I can contact to make a proper complaint. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

In the AWD version of the Durango the SUV will shift into AWD low while the car is in motion without the control knob being turned. The car will flash the low light and then shift into AWD low. The car will not come out of AWD low at all. This issue randomly occurs. We have taken the car to the dealership three times to have them look at this issue. They have replaced the transfer case and the sensor and the issue still is occurring with the car. The issue will occur with the car in motion or in park and is at random times. The car will not come out of AWD low when following the manufacture directions, it will come out of low at random times or not at all.

We have owned our 2013 Dodge Durango since it had 30 miles on it. It has 60,000+ miles on it and for the last year it has failed to start on multiple occasions. We took it to the cerritos Dodge dealership and they said it could be 2 things. One is $900+ and the other is $1200+ to fix it. Why should we pay for something that comes faulty from the manufacturer" this is not oil or a filter that needs changing every few months. An electrical component should not be going out at such an early rate plus be so expensive. My brpther bought the same truck a few months before us and it has had the same issues and then some. Their truck actually stalled on them while on the street. The truck would not start for over an hour. They had to get it towed home. The next day when they woke up it started like nothing ever happened. When they took it to the dealership that same day they tested everything and said nothing was wrong with it. Now what the hell is wrong with the vehicle? why should we have to pay thousands of dollars for faulty manufacturer parts" Chrysler/Dodge needs to fix this issue once and for all. Lets not wait for someone to die from these faulty parts.

I've been having issues with my vehicle stalling at random times where I'm stuck stranded for about 2 to 5 minutes before the vehicle will start again within the last year. I've had multiple cases open with Chrysler and the local dealership in hampon Virginia. My current case number with Chrysler is 34055781. I'm now getting the run around and Chrysler seems unwilling to help me. This vehicle is unsafe and unreliable and I fear my family or myself will end up in an accident due to the lack of steering when it shuts off without warning. I've look on the internet and it's littered with this very issue that Chrysler will not acknowledge as a issue. I don't know where else to turn and I hope that someone can provide me some guidance and let me know what options if any I have to either get out of this vehicle through Chrysler or make them fix the issue permanently. It stalls at random, sitting at a red light, driving down the highway at any given speed. Chrysler claims that they've replaced alternators, fuel pump relay and tipm, but it's still doing it and it started out of nowhere. I've reported this issue about 6 times to pomoco Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram of hampton and 4 times now to Chrysler.

Battery light come on, shortly after dash board lights flickered, windshield wipers turnoff on by themselves, hazards also turned on, then radio and A/C turnoff, power steering was lost and the whole car died. Once car died, I could not start it, tried to jump it and it was dead, would not turnover. Later I was informed the alternator is under recall. When repaired by Dodge, I was told I needed a new battery and starter. I believe the root cause and all repairs should have been made by Dodge as they were all connected with same event.

Vehicle stationary, intermittently not starting when push button has been pressed, we can hear starter attempting to engage but will not start. Sometimes the starter continuously runs for about 10 seconds attempting to start the car and the only way to stop the starter, is you have to leave the vehicle and lock the car w/key fob. Has done this intermittently since July of 2017. The vehicle has had the fuel pump relay replaced due recall on 09/2015. The intermittent non starting issue has occurred a total of 12+ times. On two of the occurances the problems have been video taped. Had the vehicle to the dealership two different times and both times they state that they could not get the vehicle to duplicate the problem nor were there any codes in the system, therefore, they could not resolve the matter. When we tried to show them the videos they advised that they had no interest in viewing them. They also advised several times that without a duplication of the issue, that they could do nothing to resolve the issue. Dealership continues to maintain that we are the only ones that they know of that is having this particular issue.
