This a a reoccurring issue. While driving, my power steering malfunctioned and stopped working, again. This first happened 4 months ago. This time I was leaving work and the power steering went out and there was a red steering wheel icon on the instrument panel. Thank God, I did not lose my power brakes this time! I managed to get it home and called David Stanly, a local Dodge dealership that I thought had fixed the issue when it happened in July. They informed me that they did not have a work ticket for this same issue on my vehicle, although they did have one for they same time on my vehicle to repair a scratch on the body that the dealership had caused while in their garage. So clearly this power steering issue had stopped on its own while in their garage so they chose not to look into it.

The next morning I started the vehicle and it was working fine so I just drove it to work. After work on the way home the power steering stopped working again. This happened while I was in the middle of a turn at a busy intersection! I went into oncoming traffic, but managed to muscle back to my lane. I was down the street from the dealership so I drove it to their garage. The man that wrote up the service ticket agreed that the steering wheel light was on and that there was no power steering. This was at closing time so there was not a tech there at the time. I left my vehicle and my husband picked me up. When I went to get my things out of the Durango I pushed the unlock door button and THE ENGINE started!! The man from the dealership saw this and said that it was weird. They next day they called me and said there was no issue and that they could not do anything unless the power steering was to be out when they check it! So my options were to just leave it at the dealership, letting them drive and test it daily until the issue happened again, or to take it and drive hoping not to have the power steering issue cause me to be in a wreck. We called Chrysler and they said that they would have a tech at a dealership in a town close by and we could let them look at it. So my husband took it to them and they could not find anything wrong with it!! I DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!!???? ANY SUGGESTIONS????
