The contact's daughter owns a 2016 Dodge Durango. The contact stated that while her daughter was taking out an item from the trunk, the rear liftgate inadvertently closed on her back. The contact stated that her daughter's back was badly injured. The contact stated that her daughter was taken to the hospital and was informed that she needed to see an orthopedic surgeon. The vehicle had not yet been taken to an independent mechanic or a local dealer for diagnosis or repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
