Consumer stated gas tank would only hold 14 gallons, dealer replaced gas tank, approximately 3000 miles later, consumer complained that the tank was only holding 16 gallons, dealer replaced the tank leveler and new gauge, however in doing so a plug had been overlooked and caused a fuel leak when consumer attempted to fill the tank, around 6000 miles later, consumer stated again that the tank was only holding 16 gallons, dealer stated that when tank was on empty it still had 2-3 gallons in reserve, dealer later replaced gas tank for the second time along with O-rings and a nut lock spacer.

Gasoline leakage from fuel tank. When the tank was full, parked on an incline, or upon braking a steady stream of gasoline would run out of the vehicle. I took the van to the dealer, and despite several recalls for fuel system problems with the vans, I was told my problem was the bleeder value, which was not a recall item. The fuel tank would have to be replaced for $930. Naturally, I had to have the problem corrected. Has this been a common problem" could this have actually been one of the recall problems? do I have any recourse" thank you.

In October of 1999, our van was overheating and we had to have the radiator fan relay replaced. Two weeks later we received a recall notice and were reimbursed by daimler Chrysler. In February 2001 our airbag indicator light came on and the horn stopped working. We replaced the clock spring. In June 2001 we had to replace our fuel tank because it was cracked. We continued to smell gas and had to have our fuel rail replaced because it was leaking fuel onto the engine. We were told not to drive it because it could catch on fire.

Fuel leakage from top of fuel tank. Dealer / manufacturer notified, and informed consumer no recall on that part, and any repairs would be at consumer's expense. Please feel free to provide and further details on this matter. The vehicle is experiencing fuel odor inside the vehicle especially at fill up, the consumer believes this may be related to recall work performed several months prior, the dealer noticed leak at the top of the tank but stated that it was not related to prior recall repair (O-ring replacement), fule filter was replaced, air bag light is on. Airbag light is on, dealer found clock spring assembly needed to be replaced. Consumer states that he had to make 3 different trips to the dealer due to the first 2 trips did not resolve the problem. Brakes failed. Collapsing gas tank. Door locks inoperable.

Consumer received recall 00V268 and went to the dealer to have repairs completed, however the dealer stated that the fuel tank would have to be replaced before the recall could be completed due to the fuel tank being warped, consumer feels the dealer should be responsible for the faulty fuel tank.

A crack was found in the top of the gas tank by the dealer when I brought the vehicle in for correction of a fuel system related recall. Either they cracked the tank during the repair or it was already cracked. It makes no sense that a gas tank should crack. I have had no accident with this vehicle and it is driven carefully. I asked the dealer if this was a recall item and they said no. However, after having the tank replaced I found out that a new tank has been designed for replacement. Why would Dodge need to redesign the tank if it was designed properly in the first place? if other tanks have this problem of cracking, there is certainly a major safety problem for owners of these vehicles. Please investigate the ocurrence of this problem with these vans. Thanks.

Consumer has taken vehicle to dealer 3-4 times. Original owner showed that recalls were taken care of. Consumer has had other dealer to verify that work was done right. Fuel tank leaked & had a odor that came from it. Problem was intermittent. A mechanic was going to change purged canister to rectify the problem. Manufacturer believed that could be the problem. Previous owner could have over filled the tank which could have been the reason.

This defect in my opinion represents a serious possibility of causing a fire. Gasoline is leaking on to the road surface below the car especially when the tank is over half full. Chrysler yesterday declined to replace the gasoline tank due they said to the vehicle's high mileage. A fire could easily start by a spark or a thrown cigarette. The local dealer said the the cost to replace would be around $450. I don't think I should pay for this as I have done nothing to cause it. The failed part is located on top of the fuel tank such that it is protected from road rocks, debris, or just about any conceivable hazard that would be encountered in normal or even harsh driving conditions. This car is never taken off the hard road. Thank you.

I question the need for a new fuel tank I paid for - $594.31 parts and labor. The tank only leaked when it was full, and when I questioned the service rep, he replied that the "tank is made of plastic and can crack just from the sloshing of fuel." Not a good reason. And now I have a recall for the same problem I described to the service rep. I thought the "known problem" with the windshield wipers was fixed when the dealer replaced a windshield that had been scratched by "impulsive wipers." Not so. They still misbehave and I'm told it will be $280 to repair, out of warranty. Three rack and pinions right off the bat. I am told that this vehicle qualifies as a lemon - but I like it and just want to be treated fairly as to need for repairs and their cost.

Front rotors warped or flawed. Heavy steering wheel and front end vibration during downgrade slow braking. Fuel tank is collapsed which will hold only about 13 gallons. Wipers coming on intermittently and gets worse when climate gets hot. Belt tensioner failed which can hit and break the main crankshaft pulley.

Strong gas smell in garage. Tank 3/4 full. Dealer said tank leaking from vent tube access cover and could not be repaired. No indication of damage to tank; lea caused by natural flexing. Mechanic said he had replaced several tanks and new tanks re-designed to solve problem. This is dangerous problem - fire hazard. Re-design indicates Chrysler has acknowledged problem but has not initiated recall action.
