This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Problem with air bag light blinking on/off intermittently. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that vehicle was not covered under manufacturer's recall due to VIN. Please feel free to provide any further details on this matter.
Air bag light is illuminating on the dash. Also, the horn is inoperable and cruise control failed to work, due to a malfunction in a clock spring in the instrument panel. Consumer has yet to contact the dealer.
After extensive research I have determined that this is a highly common problem with Dodge Caravan. When the clock spring fails, the airbags are prevented from deploying in a major accident. If Chrysler has intentionally installed a faulty safety device into their vehicles, they should be responsible for replacing it, not the consumer. A critical safety part should not fail so early in the life of an automobile.
