This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Heating/airconditioning fan switch would not function in one position, traced problem to burned up and short out connector and resisitor connector in engine compartment that operated heating/air conditioning fan speed. Replaced parts. Poor design, will not accept electrical load over extended operation. Old parts avalible.
There was a fire under the hood which caused 2 explosions. The first explosion appears to have been an electrical fire. The second explosion was in the gas or fuel line. The entire engine area was burned and the fire cracked the windshield and started moving into the front of the car. No one was hurt. The car was determined to be a total loss. No repairs were made. This is a claim to replace or repair the car. Police and firemen were called to the fire. Fire report was made.
Electrial short that render all dashboard gauges to cease functioning.N addition, electrical short did not allow transmission to properly shift gears.lectrical short caused additional damage to circuit board (so the dealer claims)
My wife was driving the vehicle when she smelled a burning odor. She looked behind her and saw flames coming out of the right rear side panel next to the third seat. She pulled over and called 911. The police and fire dept. Came and put out the fire. The fire dept. Said it appeared to be caused by an electrical short. My insurance company, New Jersey manufacturers insurance co., declared the car a total loss and took it.
