Campaign I 04V480000, action number EA04013. I currently have a non function airbag and horn in my 2000 Grand Caravan. I have called two local dealers that have both said I am covered under the above recall, however, the required part has no date for re-stock. Interestingly, I can find the part widely available on the internet. So I am driving a vehicle with a non-functioning air bag, that will not pass inspection. So I see it as Chrysler has found a simple way to avoid correcting a mandated recall simply by not having the part available to their dealers. Is there anything that can be done about this?
Dear sir's, I made an appointment and went to the Dodge dealership to have a recall defective maintenance performed on the clock spring in my 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan, which has made my driver side airbag inoperable. They advised me that the part is not in stock and that there are over 6,000 on back order. They gave me a phone number to call so that could get a reference and or case number. I was advised that by doing this I would be covered. Is there further need for any other actions on my part?

The airbag light came on when driving my 2000 Grand Caravan. The light seems to come on when making a left turn, but at times it stays on for a while, then goes out; then at times it stays on for a while, and then goes out. No set pattern.
While driving consumer noticed that SRS light appeared on the dashboard and remained on. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that the clock spring needed to be replaced.
The clockspring and steering column in our 200 Dodge Grand Caravan has been replaced several times, including several times under warranty, yet still rattles and makes noises. I have been advised by the zone office that it is indeed a safety problem (relating to the airbag) and they recommend I continue to get it fixed each time it breaks.
Air bag sensor light stays on and as a result the cruise control and horn malfunctioned. Consumer was concerned that the air bags would not deploy upon impact.
My wife was involved in an accident on a 4 lane road and was going approximately 40-45 mph when she hit another vehicle with almost no braking involved. Neither the drive or passenger airbag deployed. This was a major selling point when we purchased this vehicle since we would be using it to Transport our family. If these do not work then the Chrysler corporation should do everything to the best of it's ability to ensure that anyone that buys their products should get what they have paid for.
Consumer was traveling about 35mpg on a side street and another vehicle ran a stop sign and ran into side of consumer's vehicle. Vehicle was totaled. Driver's side airbags didn't deploy, and there were no injuries.
