Air bag light comes on intermittently. This has been going on for at least three years. I took it to my mechanic who said there was a recall on my model but only up to year 2000(figures). Mechanic replaced "clockspring" but problem persists. Mechanic said if light on during an impact, air bags will not deploy. I suppose someone must die or file suit before anything is done for all of us 2001 Caravan owners. A recall to fix this should definitely be considered / instituted!
I own a 2001 Grand Caravan with a issue with the air bag clock spring my van was built in Dec of 2000 but is listed as a 2001 now there is a recall on this problem for van up to 2000 but mine falls outside of this recall.
First my airbag light came on. Then my controls for my radio on my steering wheel quit working. Then my horn quit working. Then my cruise control quit working. This happened in about a 2 month time. I have been told by a couple of mechanics that there is a recall out for this problem. It seems to have a recall for other Dodge vehicles but not my model. Why?

Within the last six months, the speed control has become inoperative and shortly afterwards, the horn began to malfunction. Through online research, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign id number 04V480000 (air bags), which was related to some of the issues he was experiencing. The dealer stated that his VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 57 and current mileage was 78,247. Updated 09/10/08. Updated 09/11/08
