The power locks on the 2005 Dodge Caravan completely quit working. A quick fix is to pull the iod fuse for five seconds and put it back. It will work for a little while then locks gone again. Though the vehicle does automatic lock at 15mph still. This poses a issue because if in an accident you would have to manually unlock the doors to get out.forums have been posting this issue for awhile while Dodge will not recall. This is not the only electrical issue the resister to the blower motor will continuously go out. Personally I have had to change my 4 times in one year already. I believe Dodge needs to find a permanent solution to its electrical issues before something worse happens.

Jun 092011

Grand Caravan 6-cyl

  • 63,800 miles
The door locks have failed repeatedly, and cannot be operated with either the remote key or with the power switchs inside the car. The temporary fix is to open the engine compartment to remove and reinsert the iod fuse. The permanent fix is to pay the dealer a lot of money to update the BCM software for the vehicle. This is not just an inconvenience, but also a safety issue due to theft vulnerability and passenger personal safety compromise.

Power door locks not working, they either won't lock or unlock until you pull the iod fuse, this fixes it until a few days later. I have to continue to do this several times a week. This is a safety issue, if you were involved in an accident or fire of a vehicle you may not have time to unlock the doors or if the door locks are not locking and your going down the road and a kid could open the door. This problem needs to be recalled before a tragedy happens.

Grand Caravan

  • 50,000 miles
I own a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. At approximately 50,000 miles, the electric door locks quit working. When you use the key fob or lock switch, the actuator makes a sound but the locks (on all doors) will not lock/unlock. This is apparently a common issue on this year of Caravan and there is no known fix. Creates a safety issue when my children are riding in the car and the doors are unlocked and/or when we can't get into the car as only the drivers door can be unlocked using the key.

2005 Dodge Grand Caravan - the power door looks quit working on the 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan due to a defective computer programming in the Dodge computers. There are thousands experiencing this problem which can be temporarily fixed by pulling a fuse and replacing it, but the real fix requires Dodge to re-program the computer. This is a significant safety issue and must be addressed by Dodge. I have found many with the same problem.
